Today, I’ve finished two main projects on which I’ve been focusing during this month. One of them was reading Bertrand Russell’s “The Principles of Mathematics”, and the other, watching the course of lectures on critical thinking by Sadler. I’m not gonna talk about the book here since I have a special notebook for reviews. The lectures, on the other side, demand my attention right now. Of course, I’m not gonna reiterate everything I’ve learned from this course, for it would be impossible to fit 26 themes into half a page, assuming that there must be something more than just titles. What I wanna catch is a sort of general attitude towards these lectures formed after getting familiar with them. In the beginning, it was quite promising; I liked the way these lectures were structured and how the professor explained the material. However, the further it went, the less interesting it appeared. So many unnecessary examples, half-hour-long talks about appealing to emotions or ad hominem or arguments by analogy made it boring. I guess, every topic of this course has a five-minute-long animated version, but my goal was to watch this particular course and now I’m happy that it’s been accomplished. I’ve gotta be careful setting these damn goals. Me from the future may become really mad following the commitments based on fantasies which preoccupy my present self.
Hey, wasn’t I supposed to talk about the speaking club here? Wasn’t it my goal for the week? Oh, okay, damn it!
